Weight Loss, Obesity, and Overweight

We offer weight-loss treatment in our clinic.

Overweight and obesity are common problems, affecting more than two-thirds of Americans.  Nobody wants to be overweight, and there are many health consequences to being overweight as well.

Unfortunately, losing weight is hard, and many people who have tried to lose weight have stories of failure.  That’s where we can help.  Through regular visits, we can help develop and maintain realistic lifestyle strategies and weight-loss goals.  There are medical and surgical treatments for weight loss too, like bariatric surgery and medications, which we also discuss.

If appropriate, we can prescribe medications as part of a comprehensive weight-loss plan.  We only use medications in the context of lifestyle changes; medications are not a stand-alone treatment.  There are several medications that are used for weight loss.  Some examples are:  Adipex (phentermine), Qsymia (phentermine and topiramate), Contrave (naltrexone and bupropion) and Xenical (orlistat), Wellbutrin (bupropion), Topamax (topiramate), metformin, among others. We do not prescribe hCG or medications like Adderall (amphetamine) or Ritalin (methylphenidate) for weight loss.

Being successful in weight loss requires a long-term commitment; there are no quick-fix solutions.  After the initial appointment, we see patients back once a month over the course of one year—longer if appropriate.  However, anyone can come see us for an initial weight-loss visit to discuss goals and treatment options.  From there patients can decide how they want to proceed.
